Thanks to all healthcare workers everywhere! LOVE & RESPECT!

Updated: Apr 7, 2020

We the People of Hong Kong (HK) STAND TOGETHER with all healthcare workers everywhere and thank you for everything you are doing. LOVE & RESPECT!!

Healthcare MUST be: of the people, by the people, for the people!

We the People of HK are committed and responsible. We practice "social distancing" so that we remain healthy and reduce the risk of getting sick and needing healthcare.

WE STAY HOME

WE WEAR FACE MASKS IN PUBLIC

WE WASH OUR HANDS FREQUENTLY

WE AVOID GATHERINGS

WE ACT RESPONSIBLY

WE KEEP OURSELVES HEALTHY

We the People of HK support all healthcare workers by staying HEALTHY - so all healthcare workers and your loved ones stay HEALTHY!

The HK government must focus exclusively on the health of the people of HK to ensure that the HK healthcare system is NOT swamped by Covid-19 patients.

Each HK person has their right to life.

The economy must NOT take priority over the health of HK people or the healthcare system.

We the People of HK know that the HK government, by supporting the violence and brutality of the HK Police, have victimised all HK healthcare workers since mass protests began in June 2019.

The healthcare workers have become the casualties in both the political crisis, and the health crisis.

Facing the Wuhan coronavirus Covid-19 the HK government MUST NOW SUPPORT ALL HK HEALTHCARE WORKERS!

The HK government must NOW establish an independent Commission of Inquiry into HK Police use of disproportionate force.

We the People of HK remind the HK government that under The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

Article 21.3 "The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures."

We the People of HK remind the HK government that under the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR):

Article 6.1. "Every human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life."

We the People of HK remind the HK government that under Article 12 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), which enshrines the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. The right to health is also guaranteed as a part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) Article 25, which is read in terms of the individual's potential, the social and environmental conditions affecting health of the individual, and in terms of health services. General Comment No. 14 describes the normative content of article 12 and the legal obligations undertaken by the States parties to the ICESCR to respect, protect and fulfil the right to health. In paragraph Il of General Comment No. 14, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) interprets the right to health as "an inclusive right extending not only to timely and appropriate health care but also to the underlying determinants of health, such as healthy occupational and environmental conditions, and access to health-related education and information."
